Making Learning Visible Through Kilkar
Celebrating Learning Through Themes, Creativity and Shared Experiences
Every year we take up a theme and the whole school works towards it and it culminates with an invitation to parents to participate in the child’s learning journey.
During the year of the millet, the children worked on the theme of healthy living, conducted research and made posters to explain to the parents, finding recipes for healthy snacks and making various food items which they shared with the parents; the senior students worked on mental wellness and the way towards a healthy mind. In 2025 the school worked on the theme of growing up and different age groups came up with a visualisation of their particular growing up from a skit on vegetables and their personalities, to a mime on groupism and exclusion to the ‘chakravyuh’ they find themselves at a certain age from which they find it difficult to break through, and on stress and how a thief steals it. This was represented through skits and dances as a stage performance. Other themes have been on how the school incorporates art and craft in its curriculum, the discovery of India, a joint stage programme with a special needs school, crafts through upcycling, celebration and understanding of soil and harmony.
Apart from Kilkar the school organises reading festivals, theatre, music, craft workshops for an immersive experience in a particular area. Resource people from outside are invited for these activities.
