Care of the land
Care of personal spaces, care of the land
Children take part in all the activities, beginning with preparing the land, composting, sowing, watering and tending to the young plants, and harvesting. They then prepare a simple dish from the vegetables they have harvested. Children are also involved in taking care of their spaces.
Working with the artisans
Kutch has a rich heritage of crafts, closely connected to its culture. Despite the pressures from modernity it has strived to remain rooted in its tradition through the crafts. We have created opportunities for children to get exposure to the crafts of Kutch.
Design and Tinkering
The design and tinkering space is where children identify a project or a problem, brainstorm in a group and come up with possible solutions, whittling down finally to something practical that can be made with available materials. Children learn to use tools for cutting, drilling different materials and are given exposure to basic electronics and mechanical systems. Some of the projects include designing a survival torch, keys holder, hover craft, weather station, irrigation drip system, a mini cooling system. Older children are exposed to robotics and coding.

A different encounter
Empathy: Meeting people very different from the ones they usually come in contact with in their day to day encounters.
Children visit old age homes, special needs schools, outreach centres and interact with people in these settings. It brings them out of their own small world evoking feelings of empathy, and making them question the world and the inherent inequities.
Head
Logic and Order
Understanding logic, order, and strategy happens through the chess club and Maths puzzles and games.
From a young age children learn chess, beginning with movements of various pieces and progressing to understand different strategies like pins, forks etc and learning different openings, middle game and end game. The maths gym offers a rich array of enrichment activities like sudoku, kenken, mathematical puzzles and other strategy games to stimulate the intellect and awaken deeper interest in the subject..
