An Inclusive Space for Learning and Connection
Shishukunj is an inclusive space which does not discriminate on the basis of caste, colour, creed or religion. Socio – economic circumstances should not be a barrier for those who want to access a space like Shishukunj. It is a space which respects nature and all life forms, and inquires into the nature of the world and what it means to be a good human being. It is a space where a child is given freedom to discover her interest and passion. We provide concessions to those families who may not be able to afford our fees but strongly connect with our vision of education.

In our community Science Lab (Waah Science lab) children from government schools are invited and facilitated with hands-on science learning.

Bringing Children Together Through Activities, Experiences and Dialogue
We have started a Kilol program where we have connected with a neighbouring government school and children from their middle school come every Friday and Saturday and are engaged in art, sports, science and other activities. ( Kilol is a Gujarati word referring to the sounds of children’s laughter and voices.)

Connecting with the youth
We host 3 day camps for young people where we engage with them on global, national and local issues, developing nuanced understanding as well as uncovering deeply held beliefs. People who are working on the ground for the upliftment of different communities are invited for this engagement. Part of the time during the camp is devoted to doing manual work(Shram) connected to some aspect of the campus. There is of course the impromptu gatherings after dinner, sitting around a bonfire and singing. Mornings also begin by coming together outside and singing nature related songs. Deep friendships are formed and a network of like minded individuals wanting to support local causes is created.
Baal Mela
Hands-on Experiences that Encourage Exploration and Choice
We conduct baal melas for government schools where a range of different hands-on activities ranging from carpentry to block printing are arranged and students can choose to attend their interest based activity.
