Thoughtfully Designed Learning Spaces
The school buildings have been designed thoughtfully and aesthetically to reflect the philosophy of the school. Instead of the standard corridors system, Shishukunj school has been built in cluster formation with each cluster accommodating 4 classrooms. This allows for each child to be seen as an individual.
The walls have been constructed in the traditional style called ‘random rubble’ and the stones have been procured within a 60km radius. The rooms are large and airy with big windows with views of the greenery around. There are spill over spaces at the back of the classroom for children to work in small groups, pairs or individually. Buildings and nature blend seamlessly in the campus.
Admin Building
A Welcoming Space at the Heart of the School
The admin building has an aesthetically pleasing circular design. It has a courtyard with a rock garden made with the local flora, which transforms with the seasons. This welcoming space has a lobby for visitors and parents, admin offices, a meeting room and the senior staffroom
Multipurpose Hall
A Space for Assemblies, Sports and Community
The multipurpose hall is where the assemblies are held. The hall has a full size basketball court/ 3 international size badminton courts; the hall can host stage programmes with a capacity of 1000 people. The building fits in well with its surroundings and does not overwhelm despite its size. It also has a climbing wall and at the rear of the hall is the dining area.
Dining Hall
Lunch is provided in the school, and children eat in the spacious dining hall.
Labs & Library
Spaces that Support Active Learning
The school believes in active learning with understanding and to support this, there are Science, Maths and English labs. The school has a well equipped Computer lab and a very well stocked library.
Sports & Play Areas
Encouraging Movement, Play and Exploration
There is an interesting children’s play area with a range of equipment for supporting their gross motor skills. There are also good outdoor spaces for cricket, football, volleyball, basketball as well as traditional games like kho kho and kabadi.
Swimming Pool
On the northern side of the MPH is a 25 metre swimming pool. There is a cycling track along the perimeter of the school campus and an outdoor multi-sport court.
